Announcement of Faculty Vacancy Department of Mathematics
The
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in mathematics,
mathematics education, statistics, or a related field. (An earned doctorate is strongly preferred,
and is required for tenure.) Superior teaching, desire to engage in
undergraduate student research, interest in teaching courses in the general
education curriculum, and a heart for mentorship are highly valued. Interest in teaching an introductory course
outside of mathematics (e.g., computer literacy, physics, astronomy, or the
interdisciplinary Western Heritage course) is welcomed. Applicants will be considered in all areas of
mathematics, with preference given to those with expertise in mathematics
education, statistics, or interdisciplinary applications of mathematics. Successful candidates should be committed to
academic excellence in a liberal arts environment and to the integration of
faith and learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES This is a full-time, tenure-track
position. Typical teaching load is four
courses per semester, plus one course during Interim. This faculty member will be expected to teach
upper-division and service courses in mathematics commensurate with the
candidate’s background, coordinate the student tutoring program, maintain
professional scholarship, advise students, and participate in the life of the
university and community.
