Journal of the ACMS 2004 Inaugural Issue
Science as Allegory This paper addresses the relationship between scientific laws and the physical world. It argues for the fundamentally personal character of the universe and further argues that scientific depersonalization is a flight from God. What appear to be impersonal “laws” reflect God’s regularity of action. He explores in some detail the notion that scientific models are a form of metaphor. He illustrates this concept with an extended discussion of Newton’s laws of motion.
